WWE is denying reports that have been circulating online and in the local news media in the Detroit, Michigan area, the site of this week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown, regarding the show being canceled.

"WWE has not cancelled Friday Night SmackDown in Detroit," wrote WWE in an official statement issued on Thursday morning. "However based on the current situation, we are putting contingency plans in place in the event that upcoming WWE shows are cancelled by government officials, civil authorities and/or local venues."

Despite the statement, multiple sources -- including FOX 2 in Detroit -- are suggesting that the event is in fact canceled in Detroit and will be moved to Orlando, noting it was at the sole discretion of the city.

If the show is indeed canceled, or ends up getting axed by Detroit city officials, WWE is planning to move the event to on short-notice to their Performance Center training facility in Orlando.

We will keep you posted here at DailyWrestlingNews.com as updates continue to surface regarding the possible cancellation / changing of locations of this week's edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown.
