It was announced on last night's episode of Monday Night Raw that Rusev will no longer be working Thursday's WWE Super ShowDown pay per view. He was scheduled to compete in a gauntlet matchup along with AJ Styles, Andrade, R-Truth, Erick Rowan, and Bobby Lashley for the Tuwaiq Mountain Trophy. He has since been replaced by Rey Mysterio.

According to the Wrestling Observer, the Bulgarian Brute reportedly backed out of the event. The match graphic still showed Rusev despite commentary confirming that Rey Mysterio had taken his place, an indication that this was a last minute decision. WWE explained his absence by claiming he was injured.

Rusev was involved in WWE's last outing in Saudi Arabia back in October. It was that trip that saw several WWE stars gets stranded due to mechanical issues with their return jet. Rusev had tweeted out "At this point and time We need all the prayers... brother." Many talents had made it known that they did not want to return to Saudi Arabia for future trips.
