It appears that WWE will no longer be making a name change to the NXT women's championship.
Following an interview with The Man Becky Lynch on WWE Backstage last month, reports surfaced of an internal memo being sent around by WWE to drop the "women's" from the NXT championship. This would end any gender specific designation. At the January 25th Worlds Collide pay per view, Rhea Ripley was referred to as NXT champion. She would go on to defeat Toni Storm t retain her title at that event.
For last night's preview of NXT, the WWE on FOX Twitter account corrected a fan by calling it the NXT women's championship. That, along with the fact that the website still lists Ripley's title as such, indicates that WWE has dropped the name change at least for now. You can see the tweet below.
