Wrestling star Jeff Cobb made his AEW debut on last night's episode of Dynamite from Austin Texas. World champion Chris Jericho brought Cobb in as his "assassin" to take out number one title contender Jon Moxley, whom Cobb hit with his "Tour of the Islands" finisher right at the show's conclusion. The two are set to face-off next week, along with a slew of other top matches.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Cobb did not sign a full-time contract with AEW, and is still working the circuits as a free agent. He'll continue to work with other promotions including New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Ring of Honor where he is a former Television champion. Reports are that AEW management had been wanting to sign Cobb for some time, but at the moment are only using him for this current angle.
This will not be the first time Moxley and Cobb have faced-off in the ring. They recently met at NJPW's prestigious G1 Climax tournament this past summer. Moxley defeated Cobb after catching him with the Death Rider (Paradigm Shift/Dirty Deeds) as Cobb was coming back into the ring. Cobb also worked in Lucha Underground as the Monster Matanza.
