NBC has put in an order for an 11-episode straight-to-series deal for "Young Rock", which will be a comedy series inspired by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's younger years.

It will be written by Nahnatchka Khan and Jeff Chiang, both of whom produced "Fresh Off the Boat", and Johnson himself will be one of the executive producers and he's also going to be appearing in all 11 episodes.

Brian Gewirtz - a former WWE writer - is also on the staff as an executive producer as is Dany Garcia, Johnson's ex-wife.

"The show will feature Dwayne as he grows up through life," NBCEntertainment Chairman Paul Telegdy said during the network's TCA executive session when announcing the project. "It's Dwayne's life brought to live by a brilliant and soulful writer like Nahnatchka."

Johnson meanwhile has an existing relationship with NBC as he is the current host for the game show "The Titan Games" for the network.
