Although Drew McIntyre and Charlotte Flair will go down in the record books as the winners of the Men's and Women's Royal Rumble matches at the WWE Royal Rumble 2020 pay-per-view, neither were originally penciled in and both were last-minute changes made during the day of the event.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio at F4WOnline.com, it was reported that neither "The Scottish Psychopath" or "The Queen" were initially booked by WWE to win their respective Royal Rumble matches.

At first, plans called for "The Big Dog" Roman Reigns to come out on top in the Men's Royal Rumble match, while NXT Superstar "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler was lined up to come out victorious in the Women's Royal Rumble match.

At some point, believed to be as close as the actual day of the WWE Royal Rumble 2020 PPV, the idea was scrapped.

It was also reported that Reigns and Baszler ended up being used as the last people eliminated in the Royal Rumble matches, which was said to be a decision that Paul Heyman pushed for and got -- specifically in terms of the McIntyre win.
