Kacy Catanzaro is back in the WWE Universe.
Following months of confusion regarding the WWE status of the former American Ninja Warrior star, Ricochet confirmed that she is still with the company, which fans saw when she returned as a surprise entrant in the Battle Royal to determine the next number one contender to the NXT Women's Championship.
Catanzaro appeared as a surprise entrant in the match on this week's edition of NXT On USA, where she ultimately got eliminated by Io Shirai, who was then eliminated herself by Bianca Belair.
With the win, Belair will go on to challenge either Toni Storm or reigning champion Ripley, whomever holds the title when WWE's black-and-gold brand runs the Moda Center at the NXT TakeOver: Portland special on February 16th.
In an interview with Justin Barrasso back in September of 2019, soon after reports surfaced online that claimed Catanzaro was finished with WWE, Ricochet spoke about her status back at that time.
Featured below is an excerpt from the Sports Illustrated interview.
Barrasso: There was a report earlier in the week that Kacy Catanzaro handed in her notice to WWE. You and Kacy are best friends and dating. Can you share an update on whether Kacy is still with WWE?
Ricochet: She's still with the company. She's not retired at all and she's not injured. It's a tough sport and we're all hurting, but there is nothing wrong with her.
Barrasso: Will she wrestle again?
Ricochet: I don't know. She's very family-oriented and she wants kids, so she doesn't know if being on the road so much is for her. For me, I'm already too deep -- I'm on the road all the time. She loves wrestling and she loves it here, and she's so good at it, so it's a very tough decision for her.
