While "The Gypsy King vs. The Monster Among Men" did have a nice ring to it, apparently WWE had a Tyson Fury vs. Brock Lesnar match originally in mind for the lineal boxing heavyweight champion's pro wrestling debut.
The original plan for Tyson Fury was for him to wrestle Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel, but that idea was scrapped once WWE was able to sign Cain Velasquez.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter at F4WOnline.com reports that internally, Lesnar vs. Fury never got past early discussions due to Velasquez having a more natural storyline past with Brock and also being a bigger star than Fury in the United States, which is WWE's biggest market.
For Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, the match ups weren't even that important, rather just delivering the big names, said one source.
Whether or not WWE is still aiming to deliver a Fury-Lesnar match in the future remains to be seen.
