It was recently reported by Squared Circle Sirens that NXT Superstar Kacy Catanzaro was planning on leaving the company, and that she was dealing with a back injury. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported this week that Catanzaro was still signed to the company as of Tuesday, but there is apparently some truth to the original story as rumors on her departure have bee going around NXT.
The Observer also reported that people close to Catanzaro noted that she is not injured to any significant degree. Ricochet, who has been dating Catanzaro for a while, spoke with Sports Illustrated this week and said she's not retired, and not injured.
"She's still with the company. She's not retired at all and she's not injured. It's a tough sport and we're all hurting, but there is nothing wrong with her," Ricochet said of the former American Ninja Warrior star.
Ricochet was also asked by SI if Catanzaro will ever wrestle again.
"I don't know," he responded. "She's very family-oriented and she wants kids, so she doesn't know if being on the road so much is for her. For me, I'm already too deep—I'm on the road all the time. She loves wrestling and she loves it here, and she's so good at it, so it's a very tough decision for her."
Catanzaro made her first public comments since the news came out on Tuesday. She tweeted a GIF from a NXT live event and wrote, "I'm gonna do things people have never seen before."
She made another tweet on Wednesday with a GIF from her Royal Rumble appearance earlier this year. She wrote, "Do things your way. [upside-down face]"
Below are both of Kacy's full tweets. Stay tuned for updates on her WWE status.
